Awaiting student arrivals

After a 24 hour journey, I have finally arrived in New Zealand.  The students won't arrive until tomorrow afternoon, but I wanted to arrive early to combat the jet lag a bit and do some pre-trip grocery shopping.  Our accommodations for the first few nights are in Manukua Top 10 Holiday Park, south of the airport.  There is a large FoodMart nearby and a few take-aways just up the street.  My first Kiwi lunch was a delectable meat pie.  Leo hasn't yet arrived, but I expect him soon.  So far, the weather is a bit overcast and in the 50s.

Welcome

Welcome to the blog of the Hobart William Smith/Union geology field trip in New Zealand. This blog will update sporadically with images and news about our journey from Auckland, the North Island city built on volcanoes, to the stunning heights of mount Cook in the South Island.
